DURHAM UNIVERSITY 2ND XV

TEAM INFO
DURFC’s 2nd XV compete in the second tier of university-level Rugby Union, the Northern Premier Division. The league consists of the best 8 Northern based teams outside of Super rugby, made up of six 1st XVs and two 2nd XVs. The southernmost team in the league is Birmingham with the northernmost being Edinburgh. 14 regular season games determine the league standings, which acts as seedings for the joint, 16 team, cup competition with the southern premier division. The winner of which gets to challenge for a spot in BUCS Super Rugby for the following season.

2nd XV Head Coach – Steve Jones
2nd XV Captain – Henry Higginson/Brayden Barratt/Rhys Belcher

The 2nd XV acts as a breeding ground for future 1st XV players, with the same training schedule and high-quality opposition week in, week out. It’s truly a place where players can develop themselves both on and off the field. The 2021/22 season has seen us start with 3 wins from 4, with our only loss coming against Super Rugby hopefuls, Newcastle. Our aim this season is to continue our great form, keep beating 1st XVs and, at least, get a home knockout game.
