Jeff Lamb’s ferocious 4s play their trade at live ‘B’ of Tier 2 on the Men’s Rugby Northern ladder. The core of the side is dominated by experience and proven performance in the shape of a body of 3rd years who began their Durham careers in an unbeaten Freshers XV of 2019/20, under the same coach. Pockets of dynamic and aspiring fresh faces complete an excellently balanced and exciting outfit.

A 4th XV in name only, the side has begun the season in hair-raising fashion, blitzing past Hull’s 1st XV 83-0, before an equally accomplished defeat of Leeds’ 2nd XV by 46-5, in the driving rain. An extraordinary 0-0 stalemate with Edinburgh 2s in pre-season beckons for a mouth-watering rematch. Both victories in the opening league rounds showcased a squad littered with talent and ambition, in performances displaying a blend of physical authority, tactical maturity and dazzling finishing. A season of genuinely high octane joué is unquestionably in store.
